Bestie Approved 2025: Our favorite places and products of the year
Every year, a handful of places and products stand out not because they’re trendy, but because they truly deliver. The Bestie Approved designation is our highest honor at The Best of the Southwest, reserved for experiences we’ve personally tried, loved and would recommend to our closest friends.
From unforgettable stays and standout dining to thoughtfully designed products we reach for again and again, these are the places and finds that made 2025 especially memorable and continue to deserve a spot on your radar as we move forward in 2026.

What does Bestie Approved mean?
In recognition of outstanding achievement, ESPN has ESPYs, the Television Academy has Emmys and The Best of the Southwest has “Besties.” A Bestie designates the best of the best in dining, accommodations, products experiences and more throughout the Southwest.

Red Cliffs Lodge Zion (Springdale, Utah)
If Zion National Park is on your bucket list, this is where I’d tell you to stay without hesitation. Surrounded by Utah’s iconic red-rock ridges, Red Cliffs Lodge Zion strikes that rare balance between adventure hub and genuinely cozy retreat, with spacious, recently renovated rooms, warm service and an easy walk into Springdale.
I loved starting park days fueled by Scout Bar & Grill and ending them knowing a comfortable bed and fire-pit views were waiting. It’s the kind of place that quietly elevates a Zion trip and absolutely earns its Bestie Approved badge.

Aesthetic IQ Clinic (Scottsdale, Arizona)
At BOSW, we believe feeling good starts on the inside, but a thoughtful confidence boost on the outside never hurts, and that’s exactly why Aesthetic IQ Clinic earns its place as our first-ever Bestie in the wellness and aesthetics space.
Founded by powerhouse injector Marissa Abdo, the clinic pairs elite expertise with a refreshingly grounded, integrity-first approach to care. I experienced several injectable treatments firsthand, and what stood out most was how natural the results felt, never overdone, just restored and confidence-boosting. From Marissa’s nationally recognized training credentials to the warm, attentive team, Aesthetic IQ delivers results that feel empowering, personal and thoughtfull, making it an easy and meaningful Bestie Approved pick for 2025.

The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa (Tucson, Arizona)
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa is a treat for the traveler seeking respite, relaxation and an all-around unique stay. Set against the stunning Santa Catalina Mountains, this Tucson resort pairs jaw-dropping desert views with genuinely memorable experiences, from a deeply relaxing Agave Nectar Massage at La Paloma Spa to an exceptional dinner at La Luz that I’m still thinking about (save room for dessert).
I loved discovering tucked-away gems like Casa 71 Tequila Lounge, where even zero-proof cocktails are crafted with creativity and flair. Luxurious yet welcoming, polished but never pretentious, La Paloma is the kind of resort that exceeds expectations and absolutely earns its Bestie Approved status.

Arizona Biltmore (Phoenix, Arizona)
Some resorts impress at first glance, but Arizona Biltmore continues to surprise long after check-in, and that’s what makes it truly special. From its iconic, Frank Lloyd Wright–influenced architecture to impeccable service and an impressive range of dining experiences, this Phoenix landmark effortlessly balances old-world glamour with modern indulgence.
Starting mornings at the Citrus Club was among my Biltmore top highlights, enjoying coffee and breakfast on the patio. Additional favorites were an unforgettable dinner at Renata’s Hearth and unwinding with a halotherapy session at Tierra Luna Spa. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family or for a work retreat that actually feels like a getaway, Arizona Biltmore delivers beauty, comfort and those delightful “wow, I didn’t expect that” moments that earn it a well-deserved Bestie Approved designation.

Flour & Thyme (Phoenix, Arizona)
Some restaurants are about the food, others about the experience, Flour & Thyme delivers both in equal measure. Chef Ivan Jacobo has created a Downtown Phoenix destination where luxury dining feels warm, intentional and meant to be shared. From beautifully executed starters like the steak tartare to inventive mains and vegetable dishes that quietly steal the show, every plate reflects precision, creativity and care.
With its relaxed elegance, thoughtful pacing and menus designed to bring people together, Flour & Thyme is exactly the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after the last bite, and an easy, well-earned Bestie Approved pick.

Lo & Sons (Catalina Deluxe Weekender)
Some travel bags try to do it all, but the Catalina Deluxe Weekender actually delivers. This eco-friendly, thoughtfully designed duffel works for just about everyone, from quick weekend travelers to frequent flyers, and it’s earned a permanent spot in my rotation. The standout feature is the bottom zippered compartment, a true game-changer that keeps shoes, toiletries or laundry completely separate from fresh clothes, while the suitcase-handle sleeve and padded shoulder strap make airport travel effortless. Stylish, durable and endlessly practical, it’s the kind of bag you reach for again and again, which is exactly why it earns its Bestie Approved status.

Stoke Tracks (Biodegradable Ski Pole Baskets — Paw Print Edition)
If you’re looking for a gift that’s equal parts adorable, eco-conscious and genuinely thoughtful, Stoke Tracks hits the mark. Founded by UCSD professor Derek Brown and his wife Vanessa after a family ski trip, the brand was born from a simple but powerful idea: traditional ski pole baskets shed microplastics, so why not create a better alternative? The result is a fully biodegradable basket made from algae and plant materials that, yes, leaves tiny paw prints in the snow with every turn.
As a newer skier myself, I love that these bring a sense of fun while also supporting sustainability. It’s the kind of gift that sparks joy and stewardship at the same time, making Stoke Tracks an easy Bestie Approved pick.

Lindsay Nicholas New York (Arlo Bag)
A New York Fashion Week standout, the Arlo Bag has turned into a cult favorite. This oversized faux-fur clutch delivers winter drama in the best possible way, with a cozy silhouette that somehow manages to be both playful and polished.
I have the burgundy Arlo, and she’s very much a staple of my closet. This bag is roomy enough to fit my laptop, unbelievably soft and the perfect finishing touch for cold-weather outfits. Add in the Italian paisley acetate lining and gold chain strap, and you’ve got a gift with undeniable wow factor, which is exactly why the Arlo earns its Bestie Approved status.

Dandy Nomads (Southwest Candle Collection)
How could we not love Dandy Nomads’ Southwest Candle Collection? After all, we are “The Best of the Southwest.” Each candle features the cheeky slogan “Smell like a trip to…” followed by destinations across Arizona, Texas, California, Nevada and Las Vegas, blending subtle humor with scents that genuinely evoke the spirit of Southwest travel.
These vegan candles smell amazing, look great styled on a shelf or coffee table and make thoughtful gifts for wanderers and nomads-at-heart alike. We may be a little biased, but between the clever concept and the quality fragrances, this collection easily earns its place as a Bestie Approved favorite, and yes, we’re eagerly awaiting Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.

Looking back: Our 2024 Besties
In 2024, we launched the Bestie-Approved designation, spotlighting some of our favorite eats and stays throughout the Southwest. With 2026 underway, we look forward to visiting more standout places and testing more unique and high-quality products.
