A basecamp near Zion National Park
Situated amid Zion’s iconic red-rock ridges, Red Cliffs Lodge Zion serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring nearby Zion National Park, while also offering walkable and bikeable access to the City of Springdale’s shops and eateries. The fully renovated property reopened in November 2024, unveiling refreshed rooms and thoughtfully elevated amenities.
The revitalized lodge is home to 132 rooms, the signature Scout Bar & Grill, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an outdoor pool and hot tub and a cozy lobby complete with a fireplace and plenty of space for gathering, getting a bit of work done (if you must) or settling in with a good read.
Just outside the lobby, a welcoming fire pit awaits with seating and unforgettable red-rock views.
Rooms & suites
After a full day of hiking, climbing or exploring the park, there’s nothing better than sinking into a soft, comfortable bed, and Red Cliffs Lodge Zion delivers. The suites are spacious and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of room to store gear, stretch out and relax. A plush sofa creates the perfect spot to recharge after an action-packed day.
Extra kudos go to the in-room Nespresso maker, without which I may not have been nearly as energized for all the national park adventures ahead.

Dining at Scout Bar & Grill
There’s no better place to fuel up before a day in the park — or wind down afterward — than Scout Bar & Grill. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is known for hearty comfort food centered around fried chicken and smoked meats.

A creative zero-proof beverage program
Scout Bar & Grill Lead Mixologist Katie Wood teamed up with author of “The Dry Challenge” Hilary Sheinbaum to craft a standout non-alcoholic beverage lineup. One highlight is the No S’More Alcohol martini, made with almond milk, cocoa powder, a dash of chocolate bitters, dulce de leche, crushed graham cracker and roasted marshmallow. Yum!

During my stay, I enjoyed the Scout’s Honor breakfast featuring two farm eggs cooked over medium, extra crispy bacon, potatoes and toast (easy substitutions are available, including sausage or fresh fruit). The brewed coffee and made-to-order espresso drinks were equally enjoyable.
Don’t miss this dish
For a fun and unforgettable shareable, order the Smokey Nachos loaded with pepper jack cheese, roasted tomato salsa, roasted chipotle crema, guacamole and scallions. I highly recommend adding the brisket (chicken or salmon are also topper options).
Lunch offerings range from juicy burgers to chicken tenders and salads, while dinner standouts include the BBQ Brisket Platter with 12-hour smoked brisket, scout slaw and mashed potatoes. My personal favorite was the Dinner Chop Chop Salad with leafy greens, apple, craisins, toasted walnuts, crumbled blue cheese and white balsamic vinaigrette, with the option to add grilled or crispy chicken, salmon or brisket.

For a different kind of literal spin on seeing Zion National Park, an e-Bike experience is the way to go. Zion Guru, located just a short walk from Red Cliffs Lodge Zion, offers guided hiking and e-Bike tours, as well as gear rentals and shuttle services. In addition to spending time inside Zion National Park, Springdale and the surrounding area offer plenty of memorable experiences:
Zion National Park
One of the most coveted outdoor destinations in the country, Zion offers hiking, biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, canyoneering and more. During my visit, several people in our group hiked The Narrows through the Virgin River — something I won’t miss on my next trip.
Deep Creek Coffee Company
Just a five-minute walk from Red Cliffs Lodge, this local favorite serves excellent coffee, espresso drinks and delicious sweet and savory bites. I recommend ordering a breakfast bowl with fresh veggies and eggs.

Local shops in Springdale
Springdale is dotted with charming souvenir and locally-owned gift shops. I especially loved the Bumbleberry Gift Shop and Bakery for unique finds and treats.
Zion Canyon Hot Springs
A short drive from Springdale brings you to a wellness resort featuring 32 natural geothermal hot springs, 16 globally inspired mineral soaking pools, cold plunges and barrel saunas, ideal for post-adventure recovery.
Dark Skies Astronomy Tours
The husband and wife team championing Dark Skies Astronomy Tours is delightful, showcasing the best sights of the dark skies near Hurricane Utah. Not only will you get a taste of constellation lore up close and personal, but telescopes reveal some of the most captivating celestial wonders.
