AZ Body Bar’s luxe Japanese head spa: 90 minutes of scalp bliss

To say Japanese head spas are a massive trend is an understatement, and no one knows this better than Addie Hidalgo, owner and founder of AZ Body Bar. It didn’t take her Gilbert location long to attract clients from across the Valley. AZ Body Bar, established in 2022, quickly built a loyal, rapidly growing clientele. The success has led to a second location in Scottsdale and more chances for luxurious head spa treatments from the Valley’s most trusted pros.

What makes Japanese head spa treatments so amazing?

As someone who experienced AZ Body Bar’s Japanese head spa, I can tell you it’s one of the most relaxing, dreamlike self-care treatments I’ve ever had. And according to Hidalgo, that’s the main goal.

“Our main focus is relaxation,” she says. “Honestly, you don’t need any other benefits. I’ve thought of every little detail to help guests relax when they come in.”

Hidalgo isn’t wrong. The level of bliss this treatment induces cannot be overstated. But as it turns out, there are additional benefits to receiving a Japanese head spa session.

“We do care about scalp health,” Hidalgo explains. “We get people with dry hair and we help hydrate it.”

What happens during a head spa service?

I don’t want to do too much explaining here, because a head spa must be experienced firsthand to really understand its impact.

The basics of the treatment combine:

  • Deep hair cleanse (with a rainfall-style device and color-changing lights)
  • Steam facial and massage
  • Head and facial massage with special tools (including hot stones)
  • Rinse with luxe hair products and a leave-in treatment

By the time the 90-minute session is finished, you’ll feel like jelly. Your scalp will feel hydrated and your hair revived.

Does AZ Body Bar provide other services?

Yes. In addition to the Luxe Head Spa treatment, guests can book a lymphatic massage, sculpting facial and wood therapy, among other offerings.

After the Luxe Head Spa, Hidalgo says the lymphatic massage is the next most popular service

“We do lymphatic drainage facials, which are amazing. Most people fall asleep,” Hidalgo says. “It’s basically a face massage, but we’re also lifting, sculpting and draining. If there’s any puffiness in your neck or jawline, you leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.”

Hidalgo also performs lymphatic belly massage. “People often think it’s just post-op, for someone who had a tummy tuck or other surgery, but there are so many benefits to it.”

“I don’t care how healthy you are — you’re going to benefit from it,” she adds.

Personalized treatment and special touches

“I get why I have almost 500 five-star reviews,” Hidalgo says. “I really care about each person. Stuff isn’t cheap these days, and that’s why my prices are affordable.”

Before sending you off post-treatment, AZ Body Bar’s team will treat you to a detoxifying ginger shot and a choice of hot tea. Guests can expect five-star treatment.
